Snohomish Stories Are Moving to Substack
Once published monthly in the local newspaper, all seven years are now posted here, eight more years published on Wordpress are still to come, all written by me.
Welcome to my next adventure on Tai Chi & Me.
I am a local artist and history writer living in Snohomish, Wash. with my wife Karen in the first Catholic church of Snohomish County, circa 1890, that we have renovated over the years for our home and Karen’s studio for making art and throwing parties.
Nearly every morning since moving here in 2000, I practice Tai Chi Chuan in Kla Ha Ya Park facing the Snohomish River. In 2006, I began writing my first book “Early Snohomish” published a year later when I was elected president of our local historical society. My column of repeat photographs and short essays, Snohomish Then and Now, was published monthly in our local paper, as well as on Wordpress. All 80 Then & Now stories are posted here ready for your participation.
In 2014, I established the website SnohomishStories.org, and changed “Now & Then” to “Stories.” The plan is move another eight years of monthly stories to this website. Maybe, once a week, or so, I will send an email to you with another “Snohomish Story” upon its arrival on Substack.
There are only free subscriptions, as it has been since 2007 when on Wordpress.
As a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization, however, Snohomish Stories welcomes contributions. For $30 or more I will send you a personalise copy of our art book “J. S. White Our First Architect: His Surviving Structures from 19th-Century Snohomish.”
Please comment with your question and I will answer them … maybe for others as well.
Onward ~w.
